Towards crowd-aware indoor path planning

چکیده
Indoor venues accommodate many people who collectively form crowds. Such crowds in turn influence people's routing choices, e.g., may prefer to avoid crowded rooms when walking from A B. This paper studies two types of crowd-aware indoor path planning queries. The Crowd-Aware Fastest Path Query (FPQ) finds a with the shortest travel time presence crowds, whereas Least Crowded (LCPQ) encountering least objects en route. To process queries, we design unified framework three major components. First, an crowd model organizes topology and captures object flows between rooms. Second, time-evolving population estimator derives room populations for future timestamp support cost computations query processing. Third, exact approximate processing algorithms each type query. All are based on graph traversal over use same search different strategies updating during process. proposals evaluated experimentally synthetic real data. experimental results demonstrate efficiency scalability our algorithms.

Toward Crowd-Sensitive Path Planning
If a robot can predict crowds in parts of its environment that are inaccessible to its sensors, then it can plan to avoid them. This paper proposes a fast, online algorithm that learns average crowd densities in different areas. It also describes how these densities can be incorporated into existing navigation architectures. In simulation across multiple challenging crowd scenarios, the robot r...

In this paper, we give a double twist to the problem of planning under uncertainty. State-of-the-art planners seek to minimize the localization uncertainty by only considering the geometric structure of the scene. In this paper, we argue that motion planning for vision-controlled robots should be perception aware in that the robot should also favor texture-rich areas to minimize the localizatio...

Crowd density analysis is a crucial component in visual surveillance mainly for security monitoring. This paper proposes a novel approach for crowd density measure, in which local information at pixel level substitutes a global crowd level or a number of people per-frame. The proposed approach consists of generating automatic crowd density maps using local features as an observation of a probab...
متن کاملRealistic Crowd Simulation with Density-Based Path Planning
Virtual characters in games and simulations often need to plan visually convincing paths through a crowded environment. This paper describes how crowd density information can be used to guide a large number of characters through a crowded environment. Crowd density information helps characters avoid congested routes that could lead to traffic jams. It also encourages characters to use a wide va...
